OK, I have been thinking... Always dangerous.
I am loving SR5, but my plan is effectively out the window. Refering to the one month expected release cycle of missions.
As discussed last session I have been looking into running my own campaign entirely, but this is comming up against work and family time commitments. So what I am saying is that its not really working. I am not finding the mental space/time to generate a full campaign.
What is working, we have regular sessions, everyone is turning up and having fun.
So, what I want to do is keep up the momentum.
I am thinking the best solution is to run two games. When a mission is released I run it and a GM adventure around it, spend some time and weave it all together into a fun story. Then run it over 2-3 sessions.
This takes time and a lot of effort to do though. So in between I am looking at running something that is light and easy and can be run at the drop of a hat but is still fun. When I think this Warhammer comes to mind, particularly border princes. I could easily generate a random environment using renegade crowns, then just let the game evolve as we go. A sort of minexraft style sandbox play. No time commitment from me outside the game, and instant startup time once everyone arrives. This would give me the mental space I need to write out more the more complex shadowrun games so we can enjoy them in thier fullest.
So, thoughts? I am aware not everyone checks the forums, so just writing this down to clear my head.
PS: games on still this Saturday.
PSS: my discussion of future mechwarrior games is still that - future - such a game would still be a year out, maybe longer if we implement the above.
