Arcane Quest 2
« on: 15 July, 2015, 13:19:29 »
I came across this tablet game and its predecessor called Arcane Quest 2.

It's a game that plays out like Descent, Hero Quest and Warhammer Quest board games.

While the first one is a little clunky in playing I'd suggest just going straight to the second one.  It is a lot smoother playing and lets you move more than one square at a time.

So far it has been fun for that kind of gameplay, though it is freemium in nature, it doesn't feel all that bogged down  and slow on progression like many games of its ilk.

While the game is fun it sadly falls into the point where you get tougher enemies as you progress, but enemy level keeps the same as yourself.
This causes enemies to get more attack and defence dice, resulting in actually making you gaining levels worse off for yourself, because once you and the enemies get to about 4th level (typically after about 4 quests).  Your best attackers will be a zero or less sum for dice results. This results in battles with just normal enemies lasting some 20+ turns per enemy.  Then there are the bosses which you basically have to save all your wizards power for, because it can ignore their defence dice with its spells, and even your warrior (best attacker) will be hard pressed to even do damage, leading to combats lasting 50+ rounds (especially if your wizard rolls poorly).

While the first few levels were fun I cant really recommend it until this gets looked at.
