Dragon Age: Stylised Stunts
« on: 07 August, 2011, 17:14:50 »
Here is a document for some more stylised stunts I have been working on for Dragon Age.

They are broken down into stunts fitting with ways to use them as opposed to the very generic ones in the first place.

In short, I like it! 2 point cost disarms should be a hoot ;)

I concur with Kaneski. Very nicely done, though I did notice that no stunt actually allows for the bleed effect. Bleed(6) does not sound like something enjoyable. I could foresee a situation in which a character remains standing until the bleed causes them to fall over "at the start of their turn". In a way this can be used to highlight the deadliness of combat (which is deadly in its very intent), but I am feeling that it may more often be working against the players, rather than working for them....

Bleed typically will be more detrimental to players than most enemies simply due to the factor majority of enemies are killed off fairly fast while players linger about after.  Bleeding(4+) is generally going to be quite nasty and anything at that level will need to be fixed quickly or at least reduced.

I haven't used it as yet though because it was added simply a a condition rather than something typical for stunts to achieve.

Some creatures may end up with bleed stunts but only creatures with razor sharp claws/teeth, like drakes or dragons.  Weapon wielders using bleeding stunts are likely to be less effective over the short term than just the added damage of more cost efficient stunts, so I'm less likely to develop it for them but it may happen.

What about bleed effects against large/tough monster? I wouldn't discount its usefulness there. And dragonage has plenty of both ;)

Too true, it would be quite useful in those instances.

It's not like the documentation is finished at any rate, so I will eventually add in bleeding for weapons though I'm focusing on the creature stunts for now :)

So... How do I use this in WFRP?

From memory this stunt concept could be transplanted. I just can't remember how...

You could do this kind of think for Warhammer fairly easily using doubles so 11, 22, 33, and so forth to indicate the occurance of stunts.  You could also use the value of the double as stunt points created (or just toss in another d10 roll for that), however point cost of stunts may need to be increased or altered to go with the chance of getting more points.
