RPG Links of Interest
« on: 06 December, 2011, 18:59:00 »
Just thought a post for some good links for things useful for RPGs or on RPGs would be good.

Graph Paper: Digitally created custom Graph Paper made into PDFs ready for printing as needed.
It makes all kinds of graph paper (squares, hexes, triangles, dots, etc.) and lets you set your own page format, grid sizes and grid colour.

Came across this the other day.
Dungeons & Dragons 3D Print Models

Essentially what this artist has done is a huge bunch of models so people can dowwnload and 3D print their own miniatures.

It is essentially the entire collection of the 5th ed D&D Monsters manual creatures, and the files are all free.  Yup free, though you do have to signup to shapeways (previously mentioned with dice) to download the files.

This essentially makes a 3D printer a desire  :-\

Classics Remastered

I found that some old D&D Basic modules B1 and B2 are being reproduced for the 5th ed crowd, are to arrive by the end of the year (2017).

Comments from the developers

So very Shiny.

Nerdy Gear and Dice:

DogMight: Seems to do the 'premium' gaming stuff at a generally more affordable price
Wyrmwood: A bit more expensive but better craftsmanship along with it all in all.
Norse Foundry: Metal Dice, coins and tokens
Shapeways: 3D printed stuf like miniatures and dice.

The 6 mile Hex

A short article on why a 6 mile hex is quite the optimal option for wilderness setups (rather intersting).

Mapping Tools:
Inkarnate - Haven't tried this yet, but gets well reviews for more realistic maps
Hexographer - Great for the hex style maps (yet to use it much)
Dungeonographer - Made by the hexographer group but for dungeons, sadly it tends to be a bit clunkey at this stage but ok for quick maps.
Azgarr's Fantasy Map Generator - A web based random landmass generator, looks ok on a brief use and even adds in some political geography for the world if it is so desired.
GridCartographer - An interestin bit of software that either lets you make grid/hex maps or can tie in to some of the old dungeon crawler games (like Eye of the Beholder) and giving you a saved mini-map while you play.
